“Are the figures pushing down a wall or building one?” You decide…
http://www.artmuseum.arizona.edu/public_art/border-dynamics Date Created: 2003 It is historical because it shows how the immigrants were trying to come into the United States and were being pushed out by the Americans. It is important because it shows how they were being kicked out and treated like they weren’t human enough to be into the United States. |

Date Created: This shows the beauty of migrants and how crossing is a natural, and shouldn’t be frowned upon. Just like how butterflies roam naturally in the air. |

“Wet Dreams, a painting by Juan Carlos Macias, is displayed in the National Museum of Mexican Art July 9, 2008 in Chicago, Illinois. The piece is part of the exhibit called A Declaration of Immigration which features the works of over 70 artists depicting the experiences and viewpoints of the U.S. immigrant communities. The show is scheduled to run through October 2, 2008”. http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/6PPuCX6Ti-S/Immigration+Themed+Art+Exhibit+Opens+Chicago/MRIIHdfCk63 A woman is being portrayed as an “Alien” (Right). Then becoming Americanized going into the U.S, but eventually become a zombie to society. This is contemporary because this is still happening today. Immigrants still have to leave their country and assimilate. They have to wash themselves off and make themselves more American. This is important because this happens a lot. It might not seem like a problem to most Americans but it a problem to newer immigrants who might not even understand English who have to somehow find a way to blend into the American society. |

The original picture is on twitter and was painted to express the beauty of immigration. But the mural has been graffitied with KKK, WetBack and Welfare. Wetback is a term used to describe Mexicans living in the US. The term is used to be racist. And what if I say that the president says a dream with no advance? And that families are lacerated because of the separations? Aren't we all illegal immigrants? Maybe we should learn from the Native Americans. Because they didn't throw the whites to the old world. And now the future lies in the hands of the judges. And they hold the power But who are they to judge us? "We can" was just a slogan......just a slogan. A good slogan that stabbed us from behind. -CASANDRAV2016 |
